School work 2008 Here are some examples of the children's work this year. An invitation to school by Gemma. The grade 2 theme was 'Mini beasts'. Here is a dragon, a caterpillar and a ladybug. This is a true account of our adventure down the Creek! The class had to develop characters for a story. Mischevious Mortimer's toaster (he is the evil character) and Heroic Henry's spaceship- I think he is the hero. Here they are on a recent day out.
At school assembly on Monday, Fraser was chosen as school captain for next year! He was very excited and we are all very proud of him. Gemma cried "happy tears" as he went on stage to receive his certificate and the congratulations of Mrs Maclachlan, the principal. Well done Frais!
Today we visited a friend of Karen's who helps injured wildlife. He's currently got two wombats (Wombles and Barry), a swamp wallaby(Poppy) and two tawny frogmouths (no names so far).
The wombats are very cute and extremely bulky, a brick with legs. Pete wants one for Christmas- despite nearly being bitten on the leg by Wombles. Pete says- "That's a bit harsh on Wombles- it was only a friendly nibble"
At last the big day arrives! Gemma is 8. She got what she wanted- some fish. They are called bubble and marble- the names relate strongly to their main physical characteristics. Marble looks as though he has swallowed a marble and bubble has big bubbly eyes. The party is to be held soon- a Haloween theme, watch this space.... Here she is showing off her new front teeth, which have also recently arrived.
Here is Gem in her new dress. I got this wool from the op shop for a bargin- the new fairy dress is fitting well and will probably grow at the same rate as the fairy, if we are lucky. For the techno interested, I knitted it on big needles from the bottom up- hoping the neckline will not stretch. The sleeves are raglan and also knitted upside down, just for fun. All in knit stitch- no point in doing fancy stitches with this wool! I am chuffed that it has turned out wearable- and popular.
