Gemma's Birthday

At last the big day arrives! Gemma is 8. She got what she wanted- some fish. They are called bubble and marble- the names relate strongly to their main physical characteristics. Marble looks as though he has swallowed a marble and bubble has big bubbly eyes. The party is to be held soon- a Haloween theme, watch this space....
Here she is showing off her new front teeth, which have also recently arrived.

Knitting triumph

Here is Gem in her new dress.
I got this wool from the op shop for a bargin- the new fairy dress is fitting well and will probably grow at the same rate as the fairy, if we are lucky.
For the techno interested, I knitted it on big needles from the bottom up- hoping the neckline will not stretch. The sleeves are raglan and also knitted upside down, just for fun. All in knit stitch- no point in doing fancy stitches with this wool! I am chuffed that it has turned out wearable- and popular.

Guess what we got from the toy library this week?

At least she didn't wear the whole suit

Our one day holiday in Portsea

Today we spent the morning at Portsea bay beach
and after lunch we popped over to the back beach

This is boat we built and raced around the bay

Pete and Gem go snorkelling in the giant rock pool.
Gem assisted by clever use of boogie board.
We saw many fish and under Portsea pier I saw a large ray
I couldn't help but say "Crikey"

Exploring London Bridge.
And no it hasn't fallen down.
Despite the singing of the nusery rhyme on the way

As Fraser says" That was exhilarating"
Big fun for all concerned
We'll be heading back very soon for the next session
Thankfully no wipeouts

As the saying goes "We'll all sleep well tonight"

Sunday Culture

A long overdue visit to the McClelland Sculpture park.
We revisited some old favourites and saw some new interesting things.
A recreation of 5 years ago! Reluctantly posed.

Gemma still cannot resist interracting with ALL the exhibits. Remember the picture 5 years ago? This one was not posed either!
This swan is made of a HUGE tyre. Very effective, hard to piant we expect. A nice way of recycling an old tyre. The lake was full of green algae and looked very toxic.
Suspended rocks. A memorial to one of the benefactors of the park.
Gemma finds her orange squeezer at last.
